Synopsis
How often have you said, “I wish there was somebody I could just talk to about my child’s behavior?” or wondered if you are alone in the experiences you face raising a disabled child. Have you ever second guessed yourself when you disciplined, wondering if you were too hard on them? Tried to navigate the world of internet exposure to your kids, or even felt confused in trying to figure out how much of your relationship with your child is friendship or parenting?
I know I have wondered about much of these and more.
The truth is, we all need someone to talk to and the questions have been the same since the beginning of time. It’s just the circumstances that are different in an age of technology and experimentation. I have turned to my sister, my mom, elders in our community, friends, cousins, role models like the leader of the United States and various positive personalities like our religious leaders and counselors. I have even tried to keep hip to the news and updates about the do’s and do not’s that seem to be on a ‘flip-flop’ rollercoaster of juxtaposition.
The fact is that there are so many adages and caveats to parenting, parenting style, culture and nurturing, but there are some things that remain the same despite all the variables, and that is our humanity. We love our children, and we love to gab about them. We talk to our friends and families about their successes and blame ourselves for their shortcomings. We gab about their ambitions and how much we have contributed to it or decline any connection what so ever to their less admirable traits. But we love them none the less, and that love pushes the boundaries of human understanding, forcing us to connect to others for guidance and real Grown-up Gab that is less superficial and more neighborly. This is what Healthy Kids Happy Kids is about. Its about taking a walk in the shoe of the other parent and trying to understand the turmoil that rivets the home, or offer more fun ideas to just spend time and continue to grow your already blossoming home and family to keep everyone happy and entertained.
Healthy Kids Happy Kids, offer sound conversation, parent to parent that says “you are not alone” and that we are glad to learn from all those who helped us and continue to guide our steps and hope we can offer a few words to help you.
