Interview with March Contest winner, Patricia Patutu

March Contest Winner, Patricia PatutuWhat is your name?

Patricia Patutu

Where are you from?

Mount Vernon New York

Are you affiliated with any book clubs or online book groups?

No, I really don’t have time to go online other than for work or to check my emails. Even though I have heard good things about book groups. But normally I would read biographies or historical books and they really don’t focus on those in book groups.

Have you ever read any of Denise Campbell’s works or any of the works published by Universal Write Publications LLC?

Actually no. I work at a local New York University and I saw one of the students reading one of her books and asked about it. I was very surprised to learn the depth to which she writes, and that it discusses a lot of social issues within the context of a fiction story. When A Woman’s Wrath came out last year, I didn’t by then but this contest was the motivation I needed. I still cannot believe I won.

What made you decide to enter the Woman’s History Month 2008 March Contest?

My biggest motivation was for the free roundtrip ticket to Florida. But in the process I have discovered a woman who I believe will be one of the timeless authors of our lives.

Did you enjoy the books?

Are you kidding? I couldn’t put it down. Her characters took on a life of their own that gave satisfaction in ways that surprised me. I never would have believed that I would agree with vigilantism in any way shape or form, but there I did here. Just the premise of the story alone is alluring. Look at what the movies did for the same concept in The Brave One with Demi Moore. It’s the same idea.

Would you continue to support works published by Universal Write Publications LLC or Denise Campbell?

The amazing thing about all of this is, not only do I have a new found appreciation for Denise Campbell’s books; I also loved reading the stories by Michelle McGriff and Maxine Thompson in Never Knew Love like This Before. I almost screamed it hurt so badly. I have to warn the ladies; don’t read either of these books alone. You will either need someone to hold you tight into the midnight hours or someone to hold you down before you lose your mind and start taking things into your own hands. Either way, you might want to spend the night at a friend’s.

Would you recommend Either A Woman’s Wrath or Never Know Love Like This Before or both?

Without a doubt.

Which one of the prizes did you pick?

I am going on the roundtrip to Sunny Florida and I cannot wait to just get away.

When do you plan on taking your trip?

I think I will wait for the fall to take my trip, when the snow starts to get on my nerves again and I just need some space.

We thank you for supporting UWP and its author contest for Denise Campbell. We hope you will enjoy your time in Tampa Florida on US!
